Project Overview
The 169 km2 Toura application is located in west Cote d’Ivoire, a 45 minute drive on laterite roads from the town of Biankouma and 1 hour 15 minutes from the regional capital, Man. The application was selected due to the presence of historically mapped orthopyroxene and olivine rich norite intrusives located in a Birimian granite-greenstone belt within a highly weathered, lateritised environment prospective for Ni-Co laterite deposits.
Exploration Programme
Altus selected Toura based upon an extensive process of desk-based remote prospectivity mapping. This work comprised a review of available datasets, including historical mineral occurrences, geological maps and satellite-borne remote sensing data. Toura is adjacent to Foungouesso and with 40 km of the Silipou Ni-Co laterite projects operated by Nickel de l’Ouest and 35 km from Sama Resources’ (TSX-V : SME) Samapleu project with a Ni 43-101 resource of 33.18 Mt at 0.269% Ni equivalent (measured and indicated) and 17.78 Mt at 0.248% Ni equivalent (inferred). A first phase reconnaissance exploration programme will include an assessment of the priority targets identified from remote prospectivity mapping.
